The Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics and Organized Crime unit announced that it launched an investigation earlier this month into resident Konstantinos E. Papadakos, age 20, who had a protective order that bars him from possessing any weapons.

On Wednesday, Oct. 6, police said that members of the department’s Special Response Team and the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit busted Papadakos - who was wanted in Norwalk for evading a motor vehicle accident - in bed in his Prospect Street apartment with a black Polymer 80 PFC94c handgun loaded with eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.

According to Stamford Police Lt. Christopher Baker, investigators “found that the firearm did not possess serial numbers and was determined to be a ‘ghost gun’ meaning that it was purchased over the internet without being fully functioning,” he said.

“These types of firearms are not stamped with serial numbers and make it virtually impossible to track.”

Papadakos was charged with:

  • Criminal possession of a firearm;
  • Criminal possession of ammunition;
  • Manufacture of a firearm;
  • Violation of a standing protective order.

Papadakos was held on a $25,000 bond and scheduled to return to court on Thursday, Oct. 7.
